Epson's Stylus Pro 4000 (SP4000) has an infuriating way of refusing to print at all if it gets the idea that the paper is the wrong size. To override the Paper Size Check, use the lcd panel to view the Printer Setup Menu scroll through the options to "Paper Size Check", click the Right > arrow, and then the up or down arrow to set it to "Off". Then, click the Right > arrow again, which will put a * next to the value, making it (I am supposing) the default.
I don't know who did the User Interface testing and engineering on this printer, but it's like one of the minor tortures of hell to deal with it. The print engine itself is amazing, fanstastic and glorious, but the learning curve on this printer has been a hair-tearing, kicking and screaming experience. I seriously think that Epson needs to hire some non-engineers to help them design the UI on these printers.
